Canyon Lake

firstly i would like to apologize for not updating my blog for so long. i had a realli busy schedule for the few weeks. but it's all good now bcoz i dun have any more exams from now to the finals le *yayz.. so here are the posts i saved but didnt get to publish bcoz i did them when i had the time and it wasn't realli complete. so readers out there rejoice! *lol..

randolf asked me on fri if i wanted to hang out on sat wif pastor a'mie and stacey. gyess wat? i agreed immediately bcoz the destination sounded good to me! it is CANYON LAKE! *lol.. though i've never been there but i had a feeling that it will be a cool place.

*knock knock (on my glass window) i jumped out of bed bcoz i know it was. damn it! i overslept again! argh! couldnt turn in last nite but guess i dozed off somewhere btw 4-5am. aniwae i let randolph in while i rushed to freshen up and dress up. i was done in 10 min! (i know i am fast! *hee hee..) Headed out to Stacey's place where we met up with them and we took Stacey's car to Canyon Lake.
it was a long drive from stacy's place and it turned out to be out in the countryside, which i tot was pretty cool. the roads started to get curvy and topsy-turvy and soon the lake came into view. the glistening sparkles of the lake reflecting the rays of the sun really captured the hearts of each and every one of us. and we started to get even more excited about wats coming up.

reached the place and we sat down and had some cookies. i hadnt had any breakfast so i was realli glad there was food available. *haha.. the cookies tasted great but the coffee was kinda bland! *ugh.. aniwae the initial impression that randolph told me was that it'll be a tour but it turned out to be a presentation (which we spent an hour and a half sitting there) on why we should sign up for membership for the resort. though we did get a short tour of the various apartments, but i still felt it was kind of a waste of time. no wonder they didn't want to let us go for the tour unless we had a credit card.
glimpse of the lake

the quay on the other side of the lake (there were lots of expensive boats and yachts)

the apartments were realli nice and cheap too. the plan is simple. just sign up as a member and you could have 10 days/year to spend in their v nice and luxurious resorts. they have many different resorts in different states so there's a wide variety of choice. if not, you can choose from numerous other affliates when you choose to go overseas but you ahve to pay 179 for 6 people for 8days. it realli sounded unbelievable to me (you know the typical skeptical sporean? yea..) aniwae pastor a'mie decided not to sign up and it was realli hilarious to see this so furious (that we didnt sign with them) that he slammed his file shut! best of all is that he didn't even greet us out.. *lol.. we were so glad that we didnt sign it after that kinda lousy customer service..

entrance to the apartments

a look at the outside of the apartments as we drove past

a look at of the kitchens in the apartment

a view of canyon lake from one of the "normal" suites

a view of canyon lake from the "presidential" suite

had lunch at "asian buffet", which was a lil different from the one i had last time wif my aunt jac at kerrville. after that we went to a linen store, wal mart to grab some dvds and headed back to stacey's house to watch it. we watched the cartoon "flushed away" which their plot and animation sux and their jokes were pretty lame. next up was "remember the giants", which was about how a football coach, on the verge of being fired, reorganize his life to fit God's purposes (i was wif a bunch of christian pple wat do you expect? i feel the same way too..) and the changes in his life that God illicited i.e. his football team won state championship, his debt was cleared, someone gave him a new truck etc. finally, randolph gave me a ride home. i guess today wasn't too bad because i'm getting to see more of san antonio, compared to last sem. i didnt take much photos (as much as i hope i should) on this trip but it's not too bad. till next time when i go back to canyon lake wif aunt jac *ciaoz..

ChEEsEcAkE fActOry

randolf asked me if i wanted to join stephanie and him for shopping on friday. wat do you thk? i wld love to!!! *haha.. told him that nobody, with the exception of my aunt jac, has taken me shopping in the US. sad isnt it? i totally agree. but i thk i finally found true friends in randolf and stephanie over here! there are realli cool and funny people to hang out with. their bickering and comments never fail to tickle me! *lol..

aniwae they were supposed to pick me up at 2. it was 230 and i still didnt see them and i tot they had forgotten bout me *sobz.. but it turned out tt traffic along babcock road was realli heavy, an unusual sight for a friday afternoon. they decided to head down to north star mall, making me all excited! *lol.. i have read bout it but have not been there b4. so it'll realli be an eye-opener for me this time. turned out that north star mall is pretty much like memorial mall, though not as new and grand. i bought a pair of jeans bcoz i dun have a black pair and they were having a sale. i oso wanted to get this white stripped armani exchange shirt but it was $78! so ex! *sobz.. it looked realli nice on me (i've a pic on it!) and i wanted it so bad! *sighz.. am hoping i can get it the next time i go to san marcos.

we decided to grab some cheesecake at the cheesecake factory before heading to randolf's church, but changed our minds to having our dinner there instead. it's realli cool and high class! true enuff, the food is not cheap too. randolf and i ordered "bang bang chicken and shrimp" while steph ordered some chicken pasta. omg! my dish is so damn nice! it has steamed rice surrounded by a sauce made of curry, peanuts, crackers and some paste. it's sweet, spicy and very tasty! it's been a long time since i had such good food. *salivates.. however, the serving was too large and we were realli full to have cheesecakes. disappointed, we left. but, they say they'll take me here again some day to have it! *yayz!

dropped by his church. met some new frens. listened to a good sermon which i cannot help dozing off bcoz i was so damn tired after thur nite's drunken brawl btw bob and john, whom i was damn pissed with. didnt go out for the rest of the weekend bcoz got 2 tests next week so decided to study for them. i'll leave you with some of the pics i took when we were out.

wtf?! 88?!

juz finished checking my history grades on webct. omg! i got an 88! *zzz.. cannot make it lorz. i was expecting at least a 92. am so pissed off rite now! *argh! bcoz i spent so much time studying and i know that i should have done better! know u guys mite prob think i'm crazy. get 88 still complain. yarz but i'm like that. when i put in effort i wanna see results! and 88 is not the result i want to see! *argh.. she's so idiotic! why did she come up with questions that are not in the list of things to study! it's so unfair! its not even a fair test if she tests us outside the class materials, which was not to mention a hell load of it! 3 chapters from textbook, 2 chapters from supplementary book and another 2 articles, altogether comprising of at least 100+ pages! *zzz.. and i had already made a post on the electronic bulletin board. so why do i still get a zero? *zzz.. dun care next test i must get at least a 94 to make up for it!

still got a stupid computer science test tom and now i got no mood to study. firstly bcoz of my hist grades secondly bcoz i dun even noe wat to study and lastly how the test is going to be like. i hope that the test tom juz tests us on the quiz questions and then i'll be happy! *heez.. bcoz i dun have the textbooks so i only can rely on the quizzes and the class powerpoint slides (which cannot make it) to study. btw they changed our computer science teacher! i feel that this guy is better than the previous one. at least he answers our questions and not beat around the bush without answering it! *zzz.. i thk he's frm china bcoz of his name and accent. in any case, so long as i understand wat he's teaching and he gives me an "A" i'm satisfied. decided to order the textbooks and expedite it bcoz i found that the quiz is from the textbook and not class material. so.. i mite skip class in future! *haha.. the keyword here is "mite".

juz found out from my aunt jac yest that they mite be going to Colorado to ski during Thanksgiving! i was like omg! i can't make it! damn it! i so wanna go there. have heard from them tt it's a v beautiful place so i've been longing to see it. *haiz.. much as i want to go wif them i can't bcoz the drive up there will be long and i wont be able to make it back for my test in time on monday. so i guess i juz have to wait till nxt time. hopefully if they go again or if my frens can save enuff money to come here. so u people out there who are reading pls quickly save more money then come here for holiday so i can travel around too. if not it'll be v boring travelling alone. *sobz..

i would love to upload the photos of the zoo trip but i guess i only can do it this weekend when i'm more free. weekdays are relali crazy for me. tts all for now. *ciaoz..

stress stress stress

juz when i tot that last sem was tough. it seems like the nightmare has only juz begun. before i returned i already knew that this sem will be the most crucial period of my life yet. i have this 3 tests and 2 quizzes this week. nxt week doesnt seem to be much better, neither does the following week. my ultimate aim: to survive this sem wif a 4.0 gpa.

initially i wanted to head down the library to read up a lil on the writing clep that i have nxt mon. but it turned out that i forgot to turn my stove off juz now when i left for school. i was making maize soup, wif carrots, onions and minced meat. in the end i had to abandon plan and head home after texas politics class to turn it off. but i figured the low fire will not burn anything and luckily i was correct. in fact, a great aroma greeted my nostrils when i lifted the cover! *lol..

btw i've a tv in my room! it's not mine though. *haha.. since they only hold their poker games on monday nights. i have the tv to myself for the rest of the week! so i decided to move it to my room. all in all i juz want to finish this sem asap wif fantastic results so that i can drive around and enjoy my winter break in my sports car (hopefully..) *prays..

p.s: i have yet to post my pics of the houston zoo trip during the labour day holiday. hopefully i can get them up on the next post.

lonG tiME nO sEE..

am riding on the greyhound now as i do this entry. yepz! am heading to houston bcoz mon will be labour day so i'll have a long weekend. i'll most prob skip school on tue so that means i'll be staying over at my aunt jac's place for 4 days and 4 nitez! not to forget great food too! *drips saliva.. have been busy dotaing, catching up with friends and family members and enjoying good food that i've not done an try since i went back to singapore. so here i am with a big sorri to all my loyal readers.

felt realli sad and unwilling when i've to leave singapore this time. was not looking forward to coming back, bcoz there is so much (i use the word 'much' bcoz it is simply uncountable!) things that i will miss. But fortunately everything has turned out much better than i expected, so it remains to be seen. the biggest comfort i can relish is my new apartment. it's much bigger and spacious than chapparral. best thing about it is that it comes with a big kitchen, in which i've whipped up a few mouth-watering dishes *lol.. hopefully i'll be able to perfect my art of cooking before i return to spore for good. after all cooking has always been an interest of mine. jon & i missed each other when i arrived in SA. according to him, he said he had reached at 430pm (before i touched down bcoz my flight got delayed). however, i didnt see him at all when i was picking up my luggage. i even left a message in his cellphone saying i'll be waiting where he dropped me off the last time. eventually, i heard his page and the time was 6pm. paid for his parking and dropped by cici's pizza to buy dinner for him, john and alex. didnt unpack bcoz the front office was closed which means i cant check in. so guess where i sleep that night? yea..the couch! (which was surprisingly comfortable) *haha.. i guess sleep deprivation for 48hrs caused me to knock out quickly.

something unexpected happened when i returned to SA. the classes that i had registered for fall DISAPPEARED! technically speaking, i do not have any classes at all for this fall! was so shocked when i realised that, and immediately went to the biz building com lab to get them to reset my ASAP password. guess what? they say the ASAP server is down and that they couldn't reset my password for me. worst of all is that they have no idea when the server will be up again! that seriously pissed me off. by the way, this all happened the day before school was set to reopen (since i returned to SA only on mon's evening). as always, i've not been very pleased with the administration over this side of the globe. fortunately, i was able to reset my own password MYSELF! am i an it technician or wat? aniwae i quickly got down to registering for classes which was to start the next day! as you have guessed, a lot of classes i had orginally for were already full. as a result, i planned a new schedule for this fall. the only good thing (so far) that came out of this incident was that i had come up with a better schedule than before. will be taking 7 classes this semester. it's going to be more crazy, rigourous, tough, sleep deprivation and hair pulling this semmester. am taking texas politics, american history: post civil war to present, physiology, anatomy, physiology lab, guitar and computer science. i'm intending to clep chemistry, college algebra and writing classes. if successful, that will mean i've done 10 classes this semester! *stuns..

here's a bried intro on each of my professors:
history: ms andria crosson. she comes across to me as someone who has great beliefs and determination. however, that doesnt means she forces her views on me but rather through her lessons and herself as an example, she lets me see why see believes certain things. she's definately one of thos profs who are genuinely concerned bout her students. 9/10 (1 mark for speaking too fast in class that i cannot take down all of what she is saying in class)

politics: mr jim startin. his classes is extremely interesting. a big burly man with an excellent sense of humour. i don't think anyone can fall asleep in his class, a total contrast to my history class last semester when i was just snoozing through every class. however, he is the kind of profs who feels that how well a student does is the student's responsiblity. in short, he does his best to teach but doesnt care a hoot bout how you score. 8.5/10

moss: she is both my physiology and anatomy professor. her classes tend to be boring and monotonous. but she gets her job done and makes sure everyone understands what she is saying before moving on. poor hanadwriting worth noting too bcoz i always have so much trouble reading what she is writing. 7/10

guitar: mr ritcher reminds me of the sheriffs in those western cowboys movies. tall, lean and specky with a moustache. but in modern times, he is a very good guitarist. nice teacher with a caring attitude. afterall, he didnt rant at me for not having my guitar the past 2 weeks (since i've no strings) but his classes go a lil too slow for my liking. 7/10

computer science: mr kwek is a downright boring teacher. from his surname, you'll prob guess he's asian. my guess is china (from his accent) though he does have a sporean look. i consider what he teaches in class to be extremely basic in this day and age. he has been covering the paarts of a computer like mouse and keyboard etc. and what you can do with a computer like how to copy and paste etc. i realli felt like telling him that my 8yr old cousin even knows how to do all these things he is teaching! it doesnt help that he juz speaks to his computer monitor. worst of all, he doesnt answer the point of the question when students ask him a question. a classic example is iasked him what is the laboratory thing on our webct (utsa learning portal). guess what he answered me? he said it's very easy and that i have to do it. DUHZ! what a dumbass! 1/10 yes. it may be harsh but he deserves it

physiology lab: i've only attended lab once but mr ekbar gives me the impression that he is a very serious person. after all, he was stressing the fact he's a very fair person throughout the lesson. i can see some amount of committment and dedication. 8/10 (extra mark for remembering my name in juz the first lesson)

recently, i came up with an invention that made me very pleased with myself. i tot i my shower curtain was with my stuffs that i left over here for the summer, apparently it's not so i guess i've to come with another solution if not my bathroom floor will be wet after i shower. i saw a pile of wal-mart plastic bags in my apartment and with a stroke of genius i decided to make a shower curtain out of wal-mart plastic bags! here's a look at it.

at first, i tot this will be a temporary shower curtain which i would replace the next time i headed down to wal-mart but as a matter of fact, this self-made shower curtain has worked so surprisingly well that i dont intend to replace it anymore. *lol.. my aunt jac read this sure shake head. my aunt mabel read this sure say cheapskate. my uncle alan read this sure say miser. am i right? *smilez.. but that's not ture lorz..i was making the most of the available resources i had, at the same time ensuring that it was cost efficient and environmentally safe too. *haha..
wow. this is a very long entry. it's to make up for the long absence so enjoy!

sHit wOrk

i still can't believe i actualli spent the whole day scrubbing the toilet in my apartment! the toilet bowl, the bath tub, the floors, the walls and anything else that was dirty. tt is why i'm so happy that we'll b getting our PERSONAL toilets when we move next semester, so that i need not scrub other people damn dirty toilet! *zzz..

been realli busy wif exams lately. woke up at 2am after slping at 8pm. been cleaning the whole apartment since the day before, no thanks to somebody. fortunately, jon is around to help me wif the cleaning. *yayz..

if i say i' not pissed wif john i'll be lying. the fact that he didnt even offer to help nor did he even throw a glance to how damn difficult it is to clean the toilet after how badly he messed it up. even his mum exclaimed in disbelief that i was scrubbing the toilet. i so wanted to tell her if not for ur son! *duhz..

seriously i find that john is a spoilt guy. more often than not, he takes things for granted. as in he leaves our trash bags outside people's apartments instead of bringing to the dumpster, he throws things out of our building all over the place, pees on people's bike and many other crazy things. i would attribute all these crazy acts to his age. he's only 19. but the sucky thing is that he expects people to clean up after him. and now that maggie (my neighbour) and him are together, i realli wonder how long they will last.

maggie is a very sweet and cheerful girl. and as wat i told jon juz now (since he asked bout them), i hope he doesn't hurt her. i feel that they have contrasting characters and differences. gers generally mature earlier than guys. though maggie isn't exactly looking for a stable family guy now but i'm sure it'll b soon. moreover, john is much too wild for her and he can't realli commit. furthermore, the issue of poker will always come between them. though maggie loves john's humour and outgoing-ness, but i feel that that is not enuff to last. in fact, i feel that john is juz a spare tyre for adrian, whom maggie used to love alot (before i came).

aniwae i'll be returning to s'pore soon. so i realli look forward to seeing you guys soon! *ciaoz..

SunShiNe AftEr rAiN

i apologise for the lousy title. but i can't realli find a title to describe "the worst is over." aniwae it's ironic to be typing this entry on a rainy day bcoz it's not sunny outside. *lol..

aniwae it's finally the end of this torturous and gruelling week. survived the stats homework, studying for history test, doing my powerpoint, practising my presentation, confirming my flight details, making payments etc etc. i'm glad it's over. now i noe taking 6 classes is definately not easy. and i mite be even taking 7 classes next semester. *sighz..

my stupid com yest nite got some stupid problem. i can't raise or lower the volume. when i d-click the volume icon, an error message pops up telling me that there are no active mixer device available. the funny thing is that there is still sound when my com starts up or shuts down, or when there is an error message. but when i watch movie or clips.. nothing. *zzz..

tried everything i could. device manager, task manager, system restore and even the recovery disc doesn't seem to help bcoz the problem will juz come back after awhile. *haiz.. does anyone have a solution to this damn problem?

meantime, there's a huge reward for me surviving this week. that is my aunt, uncle, cousin and I will be touring the hill countries of san antonio (as quoted from aunt jac), visit the factory outlets (fashion stores) in san marcos and seaworld! simply cant wait for them to get here now. so am keeping myself occupied while waiting. juz hope that the rain outside will stop soon and we'll have good weather! *heez..
